Junior Mentorship Program

Ages 13+

This volunteer program allows teen girls to be a part of the RJL team as a Jr. Mentor to our younger participants.

Under the guidance of our Lead Coaches, teens will have the opportunity to assist in the delivery of our regular weekly programs, allowing them to:

  • Learn the value of volunteering and giving back to the community

  • Be introduced to leadership in a practical, supportive setting

  • Build confidence and positive work ethic

  • Be part of a dynamic, all-female leadership team

  • Become inspiring role models for our young participants

Volunteers are required to attend at least one regular class per week (with a set day/time) and complete approximately 1-2 hours of online training prior to the start of their program.

Please contact Natalie at run.jump.lead@gmail.com if you are interested in applying for this volunteer opportunity. Space is limited and preference will be given to girls who have previously participated in our programs. Parental consent is required for volunteers under the age of 18.

We’re now accepting applications for our Winter 2024 Session.

Through collaboration, connection and belonging, Run. Jump. LEAD! promotes an environment of personal growth for our team members. Our female coaches and volunteer mentors are valued members of our team and are vital to the success of our programs. Meet our team >>

Our Classes

Our unique program has two components scheduled during each 75 mins class.

  1. Hands-on group leadership training using our customized iLEAD! Notebooks. We learn, discuss, and practice our skills together in a safe and welcoming environment. Every class focuses on a leadership skill or trait that guides our games and activities, such as teamwork, resiliency and public speaking. We may even be asked to practice our negotiating skills on our parents after class!

  2. Age appropriate, fun physical activity. We put the FUN in FUNdamentals! Using a multi-sport approach to teaching physical literacy in-line with the guidelines set forth by Sport for Life Canada, we get girls moving in a fun, supportive atmosphere using games, circuits, and relays to build skills in strength, coordination, speed and agility. Introduction to sports such as volleyball, soccer, floor hockey, basketball, and field hockey are taught using modified, fun, and inclusive methods with a focus on game play.

Each class and session are unique and connected, allowing us to build upon the themes and topics covered in the previous classes. The curriculum is original and unique to Run. Jump. LEAD! and the activities are specifically designed for the physical and social-emotional needs of girls.
